The rules for playing, sharing and re-using Dino Munch.
Dino Munch is free to play during development, requires no account, and comes with no warranty of any kind. Access and pricing may change as development continues. You may play it, copy it, show it to a class, and adapt it for your own use. You may not sell it, scrape it, or claim that the Department of Basic Education, Siyavula or the Sasol Inzalo Foundation produced or endorse it.
Dino Munch is an educational browser game, free to play while it is in development. At present there is no subscription, in-game purchase, advertising or account requirement. Pricing or features may change later; any paid access would be explained before a charge is made, not imposed retroactively.
The game is entirely self-contained. It has no server component and no user account system. These terms govern the game and the information pages published beside it, wherever they are hosted.
The game and these pages are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty or condition of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy and uninterrupted availability.
We do not warrant that the game will be error-free, that it will run on every television, browser or controller, that it will always be available, or that it will be free of harmful components. We may change, suspend, withdraw or replace the game at any time, with or without notice.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you accept the software entirely at your own risk.
Dino Munch is a game that happens to teach some science. It is not a substitute for formal schooling, for a teacher, for a textbook, for a curriculum, or for any assessment of what a child knows.
Playing it will not satisfy any requirement to teach a topic, will not replace attendance, homework, practical work or examination, and must not be used as evidence that a child has learned something. A child may catch fifty fruit and still not remember a single fact; a child may miss every fruit and still understand the topic better than the game does.
Time spent playing should be supervised by an adult and kept reasonable. The game limits a round to one, two, three or five minutes by design, and we encourage keeping to that.
The 60 facts in Dino Munch are aligned by the operator, by hand, to the CAPS Natural Sciences and Technology Grade 4-B learner's workbook. That alignment is a best-effort mapping, not an official mapping, and not a guarantee of coverage, sequence or completeness. Chapters and page references are listed in full at Sources and attribution, together with an honest account of where the game's wording departs from the book.
Dino Munch is not an official product of the South African Department of Basic Education. It is not endorsed, approved, accredited, licensed, sponsored, reviewed or certified by the Department of Basic Education or by any provincial education department.
The operator of Dino Munch is not affiliated with, and does not claim any connection to, Siyavula or the Sasol Inzalo Foundation. Neither organisation has reviewed, approved, commissioned, sponsored or endorsed this game, and neither should be described as having done so.
The workbook titled Thunderbolt Kids: Natural Sciences and Technology Grade 4-B Learner's Workbook is a publication of Siyavula, developed with Sasol Inzalo Foundation funding and volunteers, and distributed by the Department of Basic Education. It is used here as a factual reference for publicly available science content, and is attributed on the Sources page. Inclusion of these facts is not a claim of partnership.
If you are a teacher, parent or school official, please describe Dino Munch accurately: an independent, supplementary practice game that is free to play during development and was written to match the Grade 4-B content.
The operator wants Dino Munch to be useful while it is in development. Subject to the licence terms below, you may:
No permission is needed for any of these. There is nothing to sign.
These are reasonable limits rather than traps. Breaking them is almost always a sign that a different tool is the right one.
Written permission to do any of the above may be requested at hello@tomorrowly.co.za.
The Dino Munch source code — the game, its graphics, its sound synthesis and these pages — is licensed under the MIT Licence. You may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute and sublicense it, including for commercial purposes, provided the copyright notice and the permission notice are retained. There is no warranty. The full licence text accompanies the source file.
The science content originates in the Thunderbolt Kids Grade 4-B learner's workbook, licensed CC BY-ND 3.0. That licence permits redistribution with attribution, but it forbids modified versions. Dino Munch therefore does not redistribute the workbook, does not include any part of its text, artwork or layout, and does not publish a modified copy of it. You are welcome to obtain the workbook from the Department of Basic Education or Siyavula and to use it in the classroom as its authors intend.
The facts in the game are short factual statements about the physical world — for example, that the Moon has no air so its sky is black. Facts of that kind are not, on their own, copyrightable: no one owns the moon, and nobody can own the statement that it has no air. The game's wording is nonetheless a genuine re-expression, and attribution is given in good faith. Full citation, per-fact page mapping and an account of every rewording and correction are on the Sources and attribution page.
All artwork and audio in the game are generated procedurally in the browser by code. There are no third-party images, fonts, audio files or libraries in the game. If you add your own assets when you adapt the code, you are responsible for holding the rights to them.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of Dino Munch is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the game or these pages. This includes, without limitation:
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that under the applicable law cannot be limited. Any limitation of liability is subject to applicable law and cannot override rights that the law does not permit us to exclude.
This limitation applies whether or not the operator was told the possibility of the loss, and whether or not the loss was reasonably foreseeable.
The game is designed for children around nine or ten years old and is intended for supervised use with an adult present or nearby. It is not directed at children under 13 as a data subject. It collects no personal information about anyone, of any age, at any time.
Where local law requires a parent or guardian's consent for a child to use an online service, that consent is the responsibility of the adult concerned. The operator neither seeks nor collects it, and no account exists through which it could be recorded.

Bracketed values are visible placeholders and must be replaced with the operator's real registered details before these terms are relied on for a commercial or school deployment.
These terms may be revised. The Last updated date at the bottom of this page changes when they are. Because the game has no account and no notification system, revised terms take effect as soon as they are published here — so check the date if the terms matter to you.
Your continued use of the game after a revision is published means you accept the revised terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the game and clear your stored data as described in the privacy policy.
These terms are written in good faith so that families, teachers and schools can understand the deal. They are not legal advice and have not been drafted or reviewed by a lawyer. Before Dino Munch is used commercially or in a school, the operator should obtain a proper legal review and complete the placeholders above. Nothing here is a representation that the game complies with any particular law, in any particular jurisdiction.
